Still struggling in blog-o-sphere. Try Guest-blogging if you haven’t still done that. I assure it can take you to more heights. It is quite powerful that it can convert your online-efforts to the next level by awarding you more traffic, more fame and more money :-) . This very post is about why you should consider on guest-blogging.

For those who don’t know, “What is Guest-Blogging?”, let me tell you about it in short and simple words. As the name indicates, it is “Writing for other people”. What the hell? Writing for other people and then, how come I gain the benefit? That’s what I wondered when I first heard “GUEST BLOGGING”. Will the others pay me for writing for them? Well, most of them don’t do that. Then, how come the guest bloggers still get the benefit? Read on, guys.

So, here goes, the top 5 reasons on why one should consider guest blogging.

Why Guest Blog

Get Quality Traffic

I mean it. Not just traffic, but it will give you Quality Traffic. When you guest-blog, be sure that you provide at least two backlinks to some good articles on your own blog. Yeah, most of the bloggers allow you to give backlinks but mostly not more than two. And, yup, these are often dofollow links to your blog (Dofollow or Nofollow it doesn’t matter much these days).  And, if you are guest blogging on reputed blogs, then it will help you attain higher search engine ranks as well as to creep on Alexa Rank system as you are probably earning backlinks from PR2+ sites.

Now, let me tell you why I call it as “Quality Traffic”. When one guest blog on respected blogs, we will  usually prefer to write on blogs within our niche. So, by doing that, that you are actually drawing some traffic from those sites.Hence, you are getting a targeted audience, who is likely to revisit your blog again. In that sense Guest blogging in the kind of networking and to be exact it’s a tree structured networking where nodes are a cluster of blogs.

Evolve as a Better Blogger

Don’t think that Guestblgging is an easy job. Nope, sometimes it’s not. Your article might be rejected. But whenever you face rejection, make sure you bounce back with a better article. And, now if your article gets published, don’t think that your job is over. Most often we will choose a blog better than our blog. So, one must expect better feedback. You will be getting the opinions of your fellow-bloggers as well as experts. Respect their comments and try to reply those sincerely. And, don’t forget to thank those valuable commenters.  Sometimes you will have to start a healthy discussion in the comments and don’t hesitate to do that.  Rarely, you might also find some guys who come with conflict of opinions. In such cases, remember you are in a reputed zone and are watched by many. So, don’t create a bad picture there at any cost. Learn to handle such situations with utter care. Whenever you get yourself in such a situation, make sure you wind up the conversation in a single reply with some soothing words which gives a feel like the commenter wins over us  but in reality don’t win :-) . Post getting published of your guest-post, analyze the traffic to your blog. Check whether the factors like bounce rate, pages per visit and other  such parameters have improved. If it hasn’t improved to the desired or expected level, consider improving the quality of your blog. Reconsider the design of your blog. Tweak a bit in the fonts used and other associated factors and make your blog, a simple and beautiful shrine of knowledge.   All these will help you make a better writer, a better speaker, a better individual and thereby,a better blogger.

 Build Relationships

Use Guest Blogging as a means to friend the famous bloggers out there in the blog-o-sphere. Of course, this is not an easy task. First step is to become a regular contributor on the famous blog you pick. At the same time, don’t misuse the guest-blogging provision and always respect the rules and regulations followed in that particular blog. Interact with the famous bloggers that  drop and comment on your post. Try to develop their comment to a conversation. Follow them on the social networks like twitter and facebook. Building good, strong and true relationships requires converting your online acquaintance to friendship. This is not a quick process, but a slow process which needs time.

Sometime ago, I was quite consistent in blogging and that’s when I used to guest blog. I had done a couple of Guest-blogging at FamousBloggers.net and that’s how I and Hesham turned as friends.  And, the nice part is, Hesham of FamousBloggers.Net submitted my guest-post on Brian’s Blogengage and he helped me in winning 40 USD dollar as part of a contest that was running on BlogEngage. Without Hesham, I couldn’t imagine myself winning that contest alone. So, it was through Hesham, I got acquainted with Brian. This led to me guest blogging on BlogEngage. And, there my article was part of a guest blogging contest, which again gained me more acquaintances.  And, this was the networking of bloggers I was talking about. Yup, through guest blogging, I was developing my network of bloggers.

If you got some time to spare, please read my posts on famousbloggers.net and blogengage.com.

Become a Social Media Celebrity

Whenever you publish something on your blog, you need to market it through social media sites. Higher the fan follow up you got, better will be the traffic to your blog. If you are getting your post published on some famous blog, then you will quite lot of social shares with your name mentioned in retweets. So at least for a day today or two, you will be a celebrity in twitter. It’s up to make this one day celebrity to an all-time celebrity by being consistent. Do follow those whose retweet your post and thank them for the RTluv. It’s very likely that they follow you back. Like in every field, in blogging also we can see the policy  called “Give and Take”. So, visit their blogs. Leave comments on them so that they know you visited their blog. And, also share some of their posts if you find them interesting. They will really appreciate those kind of gestures and in turn, they will gift you back with a couple of comments, retweets and shares in facebook and other social media sites.

And, finally, Earn Money

Now, we move on to the last point of the list which is making money. Making money shouldn’t be the prime reason for guest blogging though link building, building relationships and all have a hidden ultimate agenda called “Making Money”. You can’t straight away make money by guest-blogging. But, there are some sites which give you money for guest blogging. So, let’s see the list of such sites.

  • Pro Blog Design - You can get up to $125 for writing posts on design tutorials.
  • Pro Blogger - You need to filter guest blogger jobs from the list given at this link
  • Developer Tutorials - You can get some $50-$100 for a tutorial on programming or design.
  • WP Web Host – They will pay you on $100 for an article on wordpress
  • One Spoon at a Time-  You can get $50 for writing articles on video marketing, unusual blogging tactics, etc.
They are many more sites that pay  for writing. You can google for them if you are interested. Often on these sites, the articles should be of specific niche and should be of high quality. And, I haven’t tried out any of the above sites. So whenever you write for them, explore about them and find whether they are genuine or not.

Wow, you read this whole post. Usually, I don’t use to write such long posts. But, this time somehow I scribbled up quite a lot.  I would like to know your opinions regarding GUEST BLOGGING. Shout out your views as comments and don’t forget to share this post.

I’ve done quite a bit of guest blogging in the years that I’ve been blogging and it has been a great way to not only meet new fellow bloggers, but it has been a brilliant way to get my blog out there to more readers.

I honestly think that without he guest blogging, then my blog wouldn’t be as popular as it is and I wouldn’t be doing all the work that I am doing now without it ;)

My guest blogging slowed down over the last few months, mainly down to time constraints, but those posts I’ve written are sill pulling in traffic and they are still sending visitors to my site from them, which is good news ;)

In that case,I guess you might have then written a hell lot of guest posts :-D . In my case, I have only written 3 guest posts till now.

I think consistency is the main key to success in blogging. Once we build up a brand, then sometimes it’s just enough that we are consistent in posting articles on our blog

I totally agree, Twitter now inform me that I am classed as a brand due to the popularity, but as you say with a constant flow of posting, even if it’s only once every two days does help with keeping the “Brand” alive and in the readers minds. As long as we enjoy what we are doing then who are we to complain ;) ;)
